
The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria arranged the Ethnographic Exhibition at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Bulgaria to Georgia Desislava Ivanova announced the event open and introduced the results of chairmanship of the Council of the European Union of the Bulgarian Republic to the society. 25 photos illustrating Bulgarian National Clothes and fire rites, by Aleksandr Mikhailov, were displayed at the Ethnographic Exhibition. The exposition is displaying the life and traditions of Bulgarian people.
Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Merab Khalvashi, Head of the Supreme Council of Ajara Davit Gabaidze, Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Autonomous Republic of Ajara Inga Shamilishvili and Mayor of Batumi Lasha Komakhidze made their speech at the event.
The opening ceremony ended with Georgian and Bulgarian songs performed by BSU Folklore Ensemble “Tirini” and the Boy’s Ensemble existing within the Pupils-Youth Palace.
Bulgaria joined the European Union in 2007, while in 2018 it became the chair of the European Union for the first time.
The Ethnographic Exhibition will close on June 28.
Various events, organized by the Embassy, are being held within the country now. The objective of the initiative is to make the partner countries get closer to the culture, history and traditions of Bulgaria.
