Invites Prospective Candidates to Participate in the Scientific-Practical International Conference
“The Problems of Formation of National Identities in the Countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia”
Batumi, Georgia 14-15 May 2019
The countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia demonstrate contradictory and conflicting nature of the process of convergence of national (ethno-cultural) and civic identities. These countries demonstrate similarities in the processes of democratization and formation of national identities, which is determined by the shared cultural-historical connections of the people. The papers presented at the conference will analyze these processes and will elaborate scientific-practical recommendations for the management of the formation of national identity processes.
The paper proposals should address the following topics:
- Correlation of civic and ethnic identities in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia;
- The role of historical memory in the formation process of national identities;
- The linguistic process in the formation of national identities;
- Globalization and its influence on the national identity;
- National identity and foreign policy;
- The influence of ethnic and religious identification on the process of national identity;
- Territorial and regional ethno-cultural identity;
- Citizenship and national identity;
- National identity and human rights;
The papers will be presented at the plenary session and in break-out group sessions. The presented papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference.
The prospective applicants should fill in the registration form and submit full papers by May 1, 2019.
The working languages of the conference: Georgian, Kazakh, English and Russian.
The papers for publication (no more than 3 thousand words) should be prepared in English, according to the APA style.
The conference will be held at the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Batumi, Georgia.
