Professor of Baltic University of Applied Sciences of Schwerin and Berlin, Managing Owner of “Solutions Holding GmbH” Mr. Stephan Gerhard was awarded the status of an Honorable Doctor by the Academic Board of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. Professor Stephan Gerhard contributed a lot to the development of BSU via strengthening educational and research projects in Tourism, supporting internship programmes in Germany for students as well as for the teacher and the professors of Tourism Faculty of BSU.
With over 30 years of consulting experience in the tourism industry and as a Certified Rating Advisor, especially in Central Europe he is an acknowledged industry expert.
Prof. Gerhard founded TREUGAST Solutions Group 1985 and acted as CEO of the corporate management board, over nearly three decades.
Prof. Stephan GERHARD is also Managing Partner of Professor Gerhard & Associates GmbH (former Horwath HTL Austria) and owner and CEO of Solutions Holding. The Solutions Holding has, in addition to Treugast, investments in innovative hotel groups, such as "25hours" hotels, but also traditional businesses such as Arcona hotels, which are partly managed under the brand SteigenbergerHe started his career in 1974 by doing internship in the hotel. After gaining the practical experience of several years he started studying at the Academic Programme of Business Administration. Within this time he defined the need of the objective and highly-qualified consulting service. This was the way he started performing first as the Junior Consultant, then a Junior Partner; later he founded his Consulting Company “Treugast“.
Because of his expert knowledge, Prof. Gerhard was called Resident Professor for "Hospitality Development" at FHM/University of Applied Sciences, Schwerin.
To honor his exceptional achievements for the hospitality industry Prof. Gerhard was awarded with the special award ’’Hotelier of the Year 2011“.
The TREUGAST Solutions Group under his leadership was the first consultancy worldwide to receive the Star Diamond Award from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences
