A New Dormitory of the European Standards of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Opens

A new dormitory of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University has been officially opened by the Rector of the University, Prof. Merab Khalvashi and the Chairman of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara Tornike Rizhvadze. The opening ceremony has been attended by Inga Shamilishvili, the Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Autonomous Republic of Ajara, Davit Gabaidze, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Autonomous Republic of Ajara, Lasha Komakhidze, Mayor of Batumi, Vladimer Mgaloblishvili, Chairman of the Commission of the Education, Culture and Sport Issues of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara and professors and teachers and the students.  The four-story dormitory following the European standards that is envisaged for 200 tenants is located on 15 Leonidze Street, Batumi and fully complies with the modern requirements.

The building that is constructed based on the block principle and is foreseen for 2 students is equipped with separate wet points and a kitchen.

The dormitory houses a conference hall, free spaces, a library, elevator, security office, a laundry-a drying room, etc.; the relevantly adjusted blocks are foreseen for the people with special needs.

2 mln and 359 thousand Laris were allocated from the budget of the University for the constraction  out of which part of the funds was transferred from the budget of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara within the programme funding.

The dormitory that used to be located on Creen Cape was opened in the 50-60ss of the 20th century. The building that did not comply with the relevant standards and was in a deteriorated condition used to be the aging infrastructure with the collective sanitary knots and non-centralized water supply and gas system.
