The Eleventh Japanese-Mediterranean Workshop on Applied Electromagnetic Engineering for Magnetic, Superconducting, Multifunctional and Nanomaterials (JAPMED’11) has been opened at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The four-day seminar aims at exchanging of information, experience, new ideas and inventions in the field of Applied Electromagnetics considering the new materials research.
The JAPMED'11 is being jointly organized by: Japan Society of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics (JSAEM); Project Center for Nanotechnology and Advanced Engineering (PC-NAE), joint initiative of the Greek National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos”; National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece; Texas A&M University (TAMU), USA; University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), USA; Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH), Turkey; Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), P.R. China; Batumi Shota State University (BSU) and Georgian Technical University (GTU).
Prominent Japanese, American and English scientists took part in the international conference of Japan and Mediterranean countries: 1998 Nobel Prize winner Professor Ferid Murad; 2002 Nobel Prize winner Professor Kurt Wüthrich; 2009 Nobel Prize winners Professor Ada Yonath and Professor Tom Steitz; 2010 Nobel Prize winner Andre Geim; 2011 Nobel Prize winner Professor Dan Sheitman; and eminent scientists of 2016.
The Eleventh Japanese-Mediterranean Workshop on Applied Electromagnetic Engineering for Magnetic, Superconducting, Multifunctional and Nanomaterials (JAPMED’11) is continuing and extending the successful previous events: two Japanese-Greek Joint Workshops held in Athens, Greece (1999) and Oita,Japan (2001), followed by seven Japanese-Mediterranean Joint Workshops held in Athens, Greece (2003), Cairo, Egypt (2005), Larnaca, Cyprus (2007), Bucharest, Romania (2009), Budapest, Hungary (2011), Athens, Greece (2013), Sofia, Bulgaria (2015) and Izmir, Turkey (2017), respectively.
