Summer University on Nuclear Safety Issues is opened at BSU

The fourth Batumi Summer University "International Security and Nuclear Non-proliferation: National and Global Challenges and Opportunities" has been opened at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The Summer University is being implemented in partnership with the Civil Defense and Security Council, the Swedish Radiation Safety Agency and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. Batumi Summer University is an intensive three-day training course on global security, foreign policy and nuclear non-proliferation led by international and Georgian experts. Summer University aims at raising competence among professors and experts of the relevant faculties of the universities in international and nuclear security and non-proliferation.

 Summer University will discuss European security in the context of Brexit, Iran-Georgia relations, hybrid threats and current challenges, radiation security in light of the complicated relations between Iran and the West. It will present the results of the activities of the Civil Council during the year. Summer University participants will become familiar to researches conducted by Georgian physicists on the possible consequences of a potential nuclear accident outside Georgia and the needs of the country's preparedness. The Summer University participants are representatives of the regional high schools, public and private sectors.

 The Summer University is being implemented in the framework of the international project "Enhancing the Educational and Research Capacity in the Field of International Security and Nuclear Non-Proliferation in Georgia". The first textbook on global security and nuclear non-proliferation published under the sponsorships of the program was presented to Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
