
Within the framework of the 8th International Summer School of Digital Humanities "Digital Kartvelology and Caucasus Studies," an international workshop was held at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University on issues of documentary and corpus linguistics. European expert Jost Gippert, director of the Empirical Linguistics Department, Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, German, and Diana Forker, professor at the University of Jena and Head of the Department of Caucasus Studies, delivered lectures on the following topics: “Text Corpus, as a Basis for Historical Research" and "Digital Dictionaries of Caucasian Languages”.
At the workshop, students were introduced to topical issues such as: Defining Digital Kartvelology and Caucasiology as a New Direction and Developing a Theoretical Framework, Modern Research Methods and Introducing to Necessary Tools for Creating Multidisciplinary Resources in Digital Kartvelology and Caucasiology (Multimedia format files: EAF and FLEX files, XML format). European experts also introduced the achievements and development prospects of Digital Kartvelology, Georgian and international electronic resources of the given profile (ARMAZI, ECLinG, CauPal, SSGG, GeoPal, GDC, GNC, DigiArchive, Spoken BNC2014, ELDP-SOAS) to the young people.
