The rector Election was held at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. All of the Academic Council members supported Merab Khalvashi with 11 votes and elected him as the Rector of BSU for the second term. Before the voting, the rector candidates Merab Khalvashi and Inga Shamilishvili presented the action plan to the members of the legislative bodies of the higher education institution. The term of office of the Rector is four years.
The main directions of Merab Khalvashi's action plan are:
- Fostering higher education based on modern standards, high quality and employment;
- Increasing the social role of BSU in the public life of the region and the country;
- Internationalization in the field of teaching, learning, and research;
- Conducting valuable, fundamental and practical research;
- Development of university infrastructure in accordance with the requirements of modern standards of teaching, learning, research, and student life;
- Increasing the role of modern technologies in the direction of teaching-learning, science;
- Establishing effective crisis management systems and achieving business continuity.
