BSU was Provided with Agricultural and Computer Techniques for Implementation of the Vocational Programmes

The meeting “The Influence of COVID -19 Pandemic on  Vocational Education Institutions and Implementation of Employment-based Teaching” in the frame of the (UNDP) United Nations Development Programme “Establishment of Vocational Training and Modern Extension Systems in Georgian Agriculture” took place at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.

Daniel Meoul, Regional Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in the South Caucasus, and Anna Chernishova, UNDP Permanent Representative in Georgia paid an official visit to BSU. In the frame of the event, the meeting with the students, professors and teaching staff of the vocational educational programme as well as the workshop on the topic “the Influence of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Vocational Education Institutions and Implementation of the Employment-based Teaching” were held.

Moreover, in the frame of the visit, the presentation of the equipment purchased by the United Nations Development Programme for the BSU, took place as well Vocational Programmes Management and Continues Learning Centre was visited.

United Nations Development Programme in Georgia active cooperates with the government of Georgia in the development and support of vocational education. Besides many, already implemented actions, one of the new activities are procurement of the technical equipment with the aim to meet the authorization standards by the vocational institutions.  To eliminate the complications caused by the CORONA virus, the institutions implementing vocational educational programmes were provided support by the United Nations Programme, in the form of delivery of the agricultural techniques and other equipment.

In the frame of the United Nations Development Programme “Establishment of Vocational Training and Extension of Modern Systems in Georgian Agriculture” the BSU was provided with the agricultural equipment and computers for adding and implementation of two new vocational educational programmes: “Gardening” and “Foresty.”

This is additional opportunity for institutional strengthening of the university as well as the citizens of the region and the entities interested in the environmental protection and agriculture.

The project is being implemented by the UNDP programme with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
