
62 students of the Faculty of Tourism of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University will travel to Germany for internship. Merab Khalvashi, Rector of BSU, Tornike Rizhvadze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, Maia Khajishvili, Minister of Education, Culture and Sport and Nika Chkhartishvili, Head of the BSU Administration congratulated the young people on winning the project and wished them success.
Students will spend 3 months of internship period in high-class hotels in Germany and learn about the functioning of all the major structural units of the hotel. During the internship, the German side fully provides accommodation, meals and scholarships for the students (in the amount of 400 euros).
Together with acquisition of theoretical knowledge, young people will be involved in the daily activities of the hotel, improve their practical skills and competences, which will enable them to be successfully employed in the international tourism services market in the future.
Based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the German Baltic College Schwerin and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University signed in 2013, the Faculty of Tourism organizes an internship in the German tourism industrial organizations for the students of the Tourism educational program (including minor specialty) at the end of the Spring semester.
The selection of the students was carried out through a competition, where significant attention was paid to the student’s academic performance and knowledge of English/German languages. It must be stated that the number of the students will be doubled in the next year.
In the summer of 2021, in the frame of the funding programme of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara (GEL 80, 000), international internships for 62 students will be implemented. Students will travel to Germany in accordance with the rules of covid safety in three stages-July 15 (29 students), August 1 (18 students), August 10 (15 students).
In 2013-2019 more than 600 BSU students did internship in Germany.
