13 Trainees Visit Spain in the frame of the “Erasmus+Project of the BSU Mediation Short-Term Programme”

13 trainees of the short-term Mediation Programme of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University will leave for Murcia, Spain on October 18-29 for an internship programme.  The project participants will be involved in an intensive training course on current issues of mediation for 2 weeks and get engaged in various training events. The internship programme is implemented within the framework of the EU-funded project MEDIATS: "Mediation, Training and Community Transformation", in which BSU has been involved since 2018. A joint meeting between BSU and Ilia State University was held under the auspices of Erasmus + Days. At the event, the project managers Keti Devadze and Salome Gagnidze evaluated the progress of the project and made presentations on the results.

The meeting was attended by Tamar Siradze, Deputy Rector of BSU, Konstantine Chokoraia, Associate Professor of Ilia State University, Salome Gagnidze, Manager of the project MEDIATS in  Ilia State University, Irakli Kandashvili, Head of the Georgian Mediators Association, the academic staff  of the project MEDIATS and the students.

Within the framework of the project MEDIATS, the BSU academic staff had 3 year training course in Breda (Netherlands), Murcia (Spain), Riga (Latvia) and was retrained in the direction of mediation. A short-term, 60-credit mediation programme was also developed, enrolling 15 trainees in the 2021 Spring semester. The training cycle runs from March 2021 through December 2021.

Within the framework of the project "Mediation, Training and Society Transformation", a "Mediation Teaching and Imitation Process Room" was organized at BSU together with Ilia University; a collection of scientific articles has been published and the university has been handed over the computer equipment.
