BSU Will Host the International Conference “Early Education and Care”

Ghasan Khalili, UNICEF Representative in Georgia, met the Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Professor Merab Khalvashi and Dean of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Education Lela Turmanidze. At the meeting, the parties discussed the organizational issues of the international conference "Early Education and Care".

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University will host another international conference on June 2-3, dedicated to promoting academic discussions and knowledge sharing on access, quality and inclusion in early education and care. It is noteworthy that with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund and the Government of Norway, a Child Rights Center has been established at BSU to serve as a resource hub and to raise awareness of child rights among professionals in various fields, academia, parents and children. The center will also be a gathering place for representatives of the pre-school education sector and their professional development.

The aim of the two-day conference is to facilitate academic discussion and knowledge sharing on early education and quality of care, access and inclusion, and to raise awareness of the importance of early education to the general public and policy makers. At the conference, professors, students, Georgian government officials, local and international experts, international and civil society organizations working in Georgia will discuss the challenges, approaches and new perspectives in the field of early education and care.

During the international conference, representatives of the education sector and politicians will be able to share experiences on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic of early education and care, as well as innovative and alternative approaches.
