Europe Day was organized by the Department of Jean Monnet, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The event was attended by students of various specialties of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences. Professor Malkhaz Nakashidze, Head of the Jean Monnet Department, spoke to the participants about European values ​​and Georgia's becoming a member of the European Union. To mark Europe Day, a documentary film was shown and discussions around it took place.

Europe Day is celebrated annually in the European Union and is linked to a statement made by French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman in Paris on 9 May 1950, in which he put forward the idea of ​​European integration. The implementation of Schuman's initiative began in 1951, when the European Coal and Steel Association was established with the participation of 6 countries (France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg).

The event was organized within the framework of the Jean Monnet Chair of the project "The Core Values ​​of the European Union: democracy, rule of law and human rights", funded by the European Union and aims to promote EU values ​​by promoting research and teaching about the EU.
