
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University has launched the project "Sharing the Bulgarian Experience at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University" funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria. Within the frame of the project it is planned to carry out various teaching/learning and working activities to strengthen the Master’s programme “Digital Media and Innovations.”
Within the framework of the project, on May 6-18 of this year, Associate Professors of the Faculty of Humanities Inga Shamilishvili and Natia Katamadze and Doctor of Philology Mariam Korinteli paid a working visit to Sofia Kliment Ohridski State University. During the visit, meetings were held with the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication of Sofia University, Professor Veselina Valkanova, and the academic staff. At the meeting, the parties discussed the existing approaches to teaching journalism, got acquainted with the curriculums and the process of practical training in the existing studios.
During the visit, it was planned to develop several joint study modules and translate the textbook into Georgian. An important meeting was held at the Department of International Relations of Sofia University, where discussions on further cooperation within the framework of "Erasmus +" as well as other joint projects, were held. A meeting was held with the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Professor Madeleine Danova, where the prospects for a new collaboration were identified.
The Faculty of Journalism of Sofia University plans to organize an online international conference in October, co-organized by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, and in December Bulgarian colleagues will visit the university within the framework of an international conference planned in Batumi.
