Memorandum of Cooperation signed with the German International Hospitality Institute

Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Professor Merab Khalvashi and Head of the German International Institute for Hospitality Gerald Witzel signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. Under the agreement, each year, up to 100 students of the Faculty of Tourism will undergo a three-month paid internship in high-class hotels in Germany and will get acquainted with the operation of the main structural unit of the hotel.

The memorandum also envisages the implementation of educational-scientific projects together with the Faculty of Tourism, the launch of an exchange program for professors-researchers and researchers, the holding of joint conferences, summer schools and seminars, educational, scientific and methodological literature and educational research.

Under the presented memorandum, 68 students from the Faculty of Tourism will travel to Germany for internships this summer. During the internship, the German side fully provides students with accommodation, meals and scholarships (in the amount of 550-800 euros). In addition, students’ travel costs will be covered by program funding from the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara.
