The Seventh Summer University "Nuclear Security and Non-Proliferation" organized by the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of BSU and the organization "Civil Council of Defense and Security Issues" was opened on the topic: "Russia's invasion of Ukraine, new challenges and risks of nuclear security and non-proliferation". The summer university was opened by BSU Deputy Rector Tamar Siradze, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia Maaike van Koldam and the founder of the Civil Council on Defense and Security Shorena Lortkipanidze.

In the framework of the summer university, informative seminars will be held for the academic staff and students of the university. International experts involved in the seminars will give lectures on global security issues. On August 24, the expanded format of the seminar will be held, together with the representatives of the countries of the Black Sea region, the security issues of the Black Sea will be discussed.

During three days, experts will discuss such issues as: global security and the nuclear non-proliferation regime today, the security perspective of the Indo-China region and the context of Russian aggression, regional security challenges in the context of the war in Ukraine, China's foreign and security policy in the context of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, NATO expansion: on the example of Finnish and Swedish case studies. Also, foreign researchers will share the experience of King's College and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Research Center with their Georgian colleagues.
