
Director of the Center for Commercialization of Scientific Activities of the University of Virginia, University Vice President Richard Nadar conducted a four-day training at BSU. The training covered such topical issues as: research strategic planning framework document, transdisciplinary, interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary research, research impact, research portfolio creation (individual and institutional perspectives). Professor Richard Nadar shared with the listeners the experience of American international scientific centers and funding sources, talked about the elements of partnership, priority areas of research and commercialization.
The training was attended by: BSU Deputy Rector in the scientific field, professor Anzor Beridze, head of the Study Department, associate professor Merab Diasamidze, researchers, representatives of the scientific research service, employees of the university grant office, heads of the quality assurance service and representatives of the faculties.
The training was held within the framework of the "University Capacity Development Program". The project is implemented by the "American Councils of International Education" with the financial support of the US Embassy in Georgia. The program aims to develop entrepreneurial culture in higher educational institutions of Georgia, promote the process of commercialization of technologies and strengthen cooperation between universities, businesses and government structures.
The project is implemented in two stages, in the first stage, during the study visit to the USA, the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the approaches of innovation and technology management, technology transfer, entrepreneurship promotion in American universities and to learn more about the commercialization of research. The second stage of the project included trainings of American experts in higher educational institutions
