
Within the framework of the international conference "Humanities in the Information Society - 4", in the section of mass communications and media studies, within the media education program of the US Embassy in Georgia, a meeting was held with the executive director of the School of Mass Communications of the Illinois State University (USA) Stephen Hunt and the director of convergent media Nathan Carpenter and TV- with 10 News director Laura Trendle Polus, as well as DePaul University Chicago professor and director of the media education program Dennis Mattson.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide feedback and make recommendations on the "Journalism" bachelor's program developed by the Faculty of Humanities of Batumi State University. Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of BSU, Marine Giorgadze, head of the program Inga Shamilishvili, persons involved in the program and representatives of the partner university participating in the conference participated in the dialogue.
Professor Steven Hunt participates in the external review of training programs developed by various American universities, thus his assessment was important for the perfection of the "Journalism" program, which will be submitted for accreditation in a very short period of time. Sofio Bzishvili, coordinator of grant programs of the US Embassy, participated in the same meeting. This year, within the framework of the Media Education Program (MEP) of the US Embassy, the "Digital Media and Innovations" master's educational program was developed and launched at Batumi University, and it became possible to prepare a bachelor's program.
