The BSU Delegation visits the US

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Rector Merab Khalvashi, Tourism Faculty Dean Irakli Kordzaia, Assoc. Professor Darejan Jashi, Assistant Professor Lia Davitadze and an invited lecturer Mamuka Turmanidze are paying  a working visit to the USA.

Within the framework of the visit, on February 6-10, meetings were held with the heads of various institutions involved in agricultural extension in the states of Texas and Ohio. Among them, the Houston office of the Texas State Extension Center; with Prairie View A&M University administration and academic staff, the Ohio State Extension Office; Central State University president, management and academic staff; with schools in Texas and Ohio involved in agricultural extension.

The purpose of the visit is to improve agricultural extension services in the Autonomous Republic of Ajara and to support the agricultural educational program of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. With the help of the US Department of Agriculture, it is planned to establish an "Agro Clinic" on the basis of BSU, which should play an important role in agrarian extension in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture.

From the side of Georgia, the following are participating in the meetings: Zaza Shavadze, the Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, Ucha Surmanidze, the Deputy Minister, and employees of the Ministry, representatives of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA): Demna Dzirkvadze and Gocha Shainidze, Chairman and Project Manager of Future Farmer.

The project is being implemented as part of the Agricultural Extension Project of Future Farmer with support from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
