Merab Khalvashi, Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, professors and students held a discussion on the topic: "Georgia's occupation - February 25, 1921" and "Russian aggression in Ukraine - February 24, 2022". Professors of the Faculty of Humanities - Otar Gogolishvili and Jemal Karalidze presented reports at the discussion.
The events of February 1921 were discussed in the format of a public lecture and discussion. It was noted that the goal of the Soviet Russian government, to return the Caucasus to the Russian imperial influence, had been outlined since 1918. During the discussion, they discussed the efforts of the authorities of the Democratic Republic of Georgia to stop the imminent aggression, the diplomatic steps of European countries and Turkey's support to stop Soviet Russia; They also compared the century-old aggression against Georgia and the Russia-Ukraine war, which started a year ago. The role of the international community was outlined both in the events of February 1921 and in the processes of Russian aggression against Ukraine since February 24, 2022.
The event was also attended by the students of the Georgian-American school "Progress".
