Twelfth Japan-Mediterranean International Conference

The twelfth international conference of Japan-Mediterranean countries was opened at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University on the topic: "Applied electromagnetic engineering in magnetic, superconducting, multifunctional and nano-materials." The purpose of the four-day international forum is to exchange information, share experience, new ideas, inventions in applied electromagnetism and new materials research.

The organizers of JAPMED'12 are: Japanese Society for Applied Electromagnetism and Mechanics (JSAEM); Center for Nanotechnologies and Advanced Engineering (PC-NAE), Hellenic Scientific Research Center "Demokritos", National Technical University of Athens (TAMU), University of Nevada, USA, Reno, USA, Izmir University of Technology, Turkey, Beijing University of Technology China, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Georgian Technical University.

The Twelfth International Conference of Japanese Mediterranean Countries continues to expand. There were already the following conferences held:  two Japanese-Greek joint workshops in Athens, Greece (1999) and Oita, Japan (2001), Bucharest, Romania (2003), Cairo, Egypt (2005), Greece (2013), Sofia, Bulgaria (2015), Izmir, Turkey (2017), Batumi, Georgia (2019).

Prominent Japanese, American and English scientists took part in international conferences of Japan-Mediterranean countries at different times: 1998 Nobel Prize Laureate Prof. Ferid Murat, 2002 Nobel Prize Laureate Prof. Kurt Woodricht, 2009 Nobel Prize Laureates Prof. Ada Yonat and Prof. Tom Stetz, 2010 Nobel Prize Laureate Andre Geim, 2011 Nobel Prize Laureate Prof. Dan Sheitman, 2016 Nobel Prize Laureate Prof. Sir Fraser Stoddart and other famous scientists.
