
The Faculty of Humanities of BSU hosted the "Austrian Literary Weekend in Batumi". The project is being organized by the Embassy of Austria in Georgia for the second year and its purpose is to popularize Austrian culture, art and literature in Georgia. At the event held in Batumi, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria in Georgia, Thomas Mühlmann, presented a new trilingual educational platform - www.berta-von-suttner.net, which depicts the life and work of the first female Nobel laureate in the field of peace, Berta von Suttner, the years spent by the Suttner family in Georgia. It also offers various multimedia resource to the user.
Within the framework of the literary project, representatives of 8 "Austrian Corners" operating in Georgia presented different federal lands of Austria, one Austrian author and one of their works. Ketevan Chogadze from the "Austrian corner" of BSU told the participants about the land of Kernten and Gert Jonke's novel "Redner um die Uhr" and shared the impressions.
Within the framework of the visit, the Austrian ambassador presented the latest editions of Austrian authors as a gift to the Faculty of Humanities. BSU's "Austrian corner" with its rich book collection (room 64) offers a variety of genre and thematic choices to readers interested in modern Austrian literature by German-language authors.
