
Professor Malkhaz Nakashidze, the Jean Monnet Chair of the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, was awarded the Jean Monnet Research Fellowship based on an international competition. In the academic year 2023-2024, Malkhaz Nakashidze will work in the Robert Shuman Centre of Advanced Studies of the European University Institute (EUI) (https://www.eui.eu ) in Florence, Italy, on the research „Stable Institutions as the Key Criteria for Accession of Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine in the European Union“ (https://www.eui.eu/people?id=malkhaz-nakashidze ). The Jean Monnet Fellowship is one of the prestigious fellowship and it is awarded to scholars who will actively participate in the research activities of the Robert Schumann Centre for Advanced Studies and the research proposal should fit well with one of the Centre’s main research themes, programmes and projects.
The European University Institute (EUI) is a leading university in Europe specialized in the social sciences and humanities. The institute, as an international organization, was founded in 1972, and currently EUI member states are the EU member states, with the exception of Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Lithuania. The European University Institute (EUI) also houses the Historical Archive of the European Union (HAEU).
The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies was established by the European University Institute in 1993 and is one of the world's leading research centers for European studies. Malkhaz Nakashidze's research at the Robert Shuman Centre will be completed with an international publication and will contribute to the growth of research potential, internationalization, and the development of educational programs of the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
