Visit of representatives of the US Department of Agriculture

Representatives of the US Department of Agriculture and "Farmer of the Future" visited BSU as part of the climate-smart agriculture extension project. USDA Washington office project leaders: Craig Ten, Rafael Gutierrez, office representative in Georgia Demna Dzirkvadze and "Future Farmer" project manager Natalie Kldiashvili met the BSU rector Merab Khalvashi and head of administration Merab Diasamidze. The parties discussed the projects implemented at the meeting and future cooperation directions.  This year, with the involvement of the university, it was planned to implement specific measures in the direction of climate-smart agriculture.

The extension center has been successfully working in pilot mode for one year in BSU. The foreign partners got acquainted with the activities of the project on the spot, the works of arranging the test/demo plot of BSU in the settlement of Tamari and the results of the school project implemented in the village of Khala in the municipality of Kobuleti. They also spoke to the participating students of the agro club and emphasized the importance of the activities carried out by them.

The meeting was attended by Irakli Kordzaia, dean of the tourism faculty, Mamuka Turmanidze, director of the agricultural school, and Giorgi Makharadze, head of the agricultural extension center.

The mentioned project is implemented with the funding of the US Department of Agriculture and the organization of "Farmer of the Future".
