BSU hosts Batumi Summer University for the ninth time "Nuclear Security Regime in Protracted Crisis"

For the ninth time, BSU is hosting Batumi Summer University "Nuclear Security Regime in Protracted Crisis: Lessons from the Past, Current Challenges and Vision for the Future". During three days, participants of the Batumi Summer University from Georgia, Great Britain, Sweden, Holland, Taiwan, Austria and Ukraine will discuss issues of global security, foreign policy, nuclear non-proliferation regime, current crisis and challenges.

International experts from the British Royal College, Stockholm University, Swedish Radiation Safety Agency, Ukrainian University of International Relations, Institute of Physics of Tbilisi State University will lead the sessions.

Participants are leading experts in the field and BSU staff. The main emphasis will be placed on the importance of maintaining the nuclear security regime in the conditions of the current protracted international crisis. There will be reflection on the lessons of the past, assessment of current challenges and vision of the future.

The Summer University aims to raise the competence of professors and experts in the field of international security and nuclear non-proliferation in the field of international security and nuclear non-proliferation, so that they can use new knowledge and existing international educational resources for the preparation of their programs, teaching and research processes. Also, the purpose of the event is to establish a network of specialists in the field in the Black Sea region and promote its development.

The annual Ninth Batumi Summer University "Nuclear Security and Non-Proliferation: Global Challenges and Opportunities" is held in partnership with BSU, organized by the Civil Council for Defense and Security (Tbilisi, Georgia), with the support of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Radiation Safety Agency.
