
'World War I and Southwest Georgia' –professors of Niko Berdzenishvili Institute at the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University devoted the scientific conference to the 100th anniversary of World War I; The scholars of the Department of History, Archeology and ethnology discussed century-old historical events happening in Adjara. The Conference presentations focused on the important topics: ‘The socio-economic situation in the south-western Georgia before World War I,’ ‘Adjara during the years of World War I’, ‘The economic difficulties and socio-political situation in Batumi region during World War I," ‘Georgian independent committee and establishment of the Georgian Legion’, ‘Adjarians "high treason" charges and repressions’, ‘South-western Georgia and Adjara after World War I’.
