
At the initiative of the “Research Center for the Spread of Science and Academic Culture in the Black Sea Region” established at the Faculty of Humanities of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, an open lecture was held on the topic: “Global Networks of Exchange: The Caucasus in the History of Photography” The lecture was delivered by Professor Dominik Gutmayer-Schnur of the University of Graz, whose research interests include the history of Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, especially visual anthropology. The participants were introduced to unique examples of Caucasian photo art, where Georgia and other corners of the Caucasus were recorded for the first time.
Dominik Gutmayer-Schnur and his teacher, Honorary Doctor of BSU Karl Kasser, have been partners of the university for more than 12 years in such important international projects as Horizon 2020 and FP7. As part of the visit, the professor from the University of Graz met with Shota Rodinadze, Coordinator of the University Grants Office of Horizon Europe in Batumi, and interested parties, in order to share their experience.
