
Heinrich Böll Foundation South Caucasus Regional Bureau launched the project ‘Who's Afraid of feminism’, hosted by the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University; The Foundation sponsored series of lectures by the philosopher Lela Gaphrindashvili, women’s human rights’ defender. The philosopher gave a public lecture on ‘Feminism and women's rights movement from the strand to the center’. The speaker reviewed the history of women's empowerment and the major actors. The audience learnt about the history of Western feminist ideas and its relation to the Georgian reality. The speaker emphasized on the idea of equality and talked about the Georgian feminists who pioneered in the movement for women’s’ rights, hence paving the way for the next generations of women. The BSU will host the series of public lectures every Friday 17:00 through 13 December.
