
Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Tite Aroshidze, hosted a delegation from the University of Tsukuba (Japan). The meeting was aimed at deepening the partnership between the universities and moving to a new stage of international academic cooperation. The Rector introduced the members of the delegation to the prospects for the development of the Japanese Studies department of the university and expressed his desire for academic cooperation. During the meeting, BSU representatives introduced the history of the university, educational programs and research directions to the guests.
Associate Professor of the University of Tsukuba, Yusuke Kajiyama, presented two scientific projects at the meeting with the aim of strengthening the partnership, within the framework of which student mobility, joint research projects and academic exchange programs are planned. In addition, the parties discussed the possibility of signing a memorandum, which will further facilitate cooperation.
The University of Tsukuba, founded in 1973, is one of Japan's leading educational and research centers. The university has about 17,000 students and has produced 3 Nobel laureates in chemistry and physics.
The meeting was attended by BSU Deputy Rector Tamar Siradze, Head of the Department of Strategic Development and International Relations, Marine Giorgadze, and BSU lecturer and Japanese scholar Lasha Bolkvadze.
At BSU, the Japanese language is taught at the Faculty of Humanities, cultural days are systematically celebrated, and joint conferences and exhibitions are held.
