Director of the International Association of European Journalists, Professor of the University of Antwerp Nadia Vissers and Professor of the University of Antwerp Frederik Maren met with the Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Tite Aroshidze. The parties discussed issues of deepening cooperation between the universities and future projects, including the participation of journalism students and staff in the "Erasmus+" exchange program.

The meeting was also attended by BSU Deputy Rector Tamar Siradze, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Teona Beridze, Head of the Journalism Program Inga Shamilishvili, and Head of the Department of Strategic Development and International Relations Marine Giorgadze. It is noteworthy that BSU has been a member of the European Journalism Training Association (EJTA) since 2023 and annually participates in trainings and forums organized by the Association.

As part of the visit, a workshop was held for students and academic staff of the journalism education program, which aimed to introduce Western standards and principles in journalism teaching. Participants They were introduced to modern journalistic standards, innovative methods and trends in digital media development.

The following topics were presented at the workshop:

  • "Personal interviewing in an inclusive and constructive way" - Nadia Vissers, Director of the International Association of European Journalists, Professor at the University of Antwerp;
  • "AI in journalism and creating data-based journalistic products" - Frederik Maren, Professor at the Free University of Antwerp and Brussels;

The meeting was organized by the Faculty of Humanities of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
