BSU is the first Georgian university among the members of the Leading European Academic Network on Children`s Rights (CREAN)

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is the first Georgian university to become a member of the leading European academic network for children’s rights, CREAN (Children’s Rights European Academic Network). BSU submitted its application for membership in the Children’s Rights European Academic Network (CREAN) in April of this year.

Officially, the membership was announced on June 6, at the international conference “The Role of the Academic Community in the Development of Children’s Rights” held in Patras, Greece. Roberta Ruggiero, the coordinator of the network, congratulated Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University in the welcoming speech and noted that BSU is the first Georgian university to join this prestigious network.

It brings together more than 30 leading European universities that cooperate in the field of teaching and research on children’s rights.

The conference was organized by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Greece. The BSU delegation, represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Education, Professor Lela Turmanidze, the Head of the BSU Children’s Rights Center, Professor Lela Tavdgiridze, and Assistant Professors: Maia Bolkvadze and Giorgi Katamadze, w personally congratulated on the significant success by the UNICEF Greece Representative and BSU Honorary Doctor Ghasan Khalili, the Georgian Ambassador to Greece Levan Beridze, and the CREAN Coordinator Roberta Ruggiero, and wished them continued success.

This success is an important step towards the integration of the university into the international academic space and the promotion of children's rights and education. We congratulate BSU on this significant international recognition and wish it continues progress.
