Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is Head of Working Group of European Region Assembly Education. On June 17–19, the European Assembly of Regions (AER) held its summit in Maribor, Slovenia, marking the Assembly’s 40th anniversary. Tite Aroshidze, Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, took part in the summit. During the visit, the Rector met the newly elected President of the Assembly, Lukas Mandl, congratulated  on the appointment, and discussed opportunities for future collaboration.

For the first time in the Assembly’s history, a Higher Education Working Group has been established, uniting universities from various European regions. The initiative for this group was proposed by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, which has also been appointed as its head.

The European Assembly of Regions brings together nearly 70 regions across Europe with the goal of strengthening interregional cooperation in diverse sectors.

The new Higher Education Working Group will focus on:

  • Promoting student and academic exchange programs between universities;
  • Enhancing the qualifications of students and academic staff;
  • Participating in international grant projects and facilitating funding opportunities.

The next workshop of the European Regional Universities is scheduled to take place in Batumi, Georgia.
