BSU medical students leave for internship at Freiburg University Hospital

Students of the medical education program of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Health Care of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University will undergo an internship at the Freiburg University Clinic in Germany. The students were seen off at the airport by the Rector of BSU Tite Aroshidze, Deputy Rector Giorgi Katamadze, Dean of the Faculty Rusudan Khukhunaishvili, and Deputy Dean Nato Zosidze, who wished the young people a successful internship and professional development.

Based on the competition announced by the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Health Care, the winning students - Anano Verdzadze, Elene Kakhidze, Tornike Tedoradze and Giga Putkaradze - will receive practical experience in the fields of intensive care, oncology and surgery at the Freiburg University Clinic.

The internship is carried out within the framework of the Memorandum signed in 2025 between Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and the University Clinic of Freiburg, Germany.

The initiator of the internship is Sofio Chikhladze, a successful graduate of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Doctor of Medicine, Head of the Department of Pancreatic and Sarcoma Surgery at the University of Freiburg, who, together with the Clinical Director of the Department of General and Visceral Surgery in Freiburg, Professor Stefan Fichtner Feigl, will lead the students' internship in Germany.

The internship was co-financed by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, the Regional Youth Center, and the United Society of Doctors of Adjara.
