Batumi Hosts 15th Session of European Cultural Parliament

Giorgi Tavamaishvili, Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of the Adjara AR, Avtandil Beridze, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Adjara AR, Carl Eric Norman, Co-founder and Secretary General of the European Cultural Parliament, Merab Khalvashi, BSU Rector and Rusudan Petviashvili, artist,  welcomed the festive opening ceremony of the four-days session.

The plenary session was devoted to the topic: ‘Will the Top European Values be Kept in Europe’. Over 80 delegates from 40 countries presented papers on the European values and opportunities and adopted a resolution after the conclusive debates.

The goal of the European Cultural Parliament is to support various cultural and creative ideas and initiatives in Europe, promote ethical and aesthetic values. The European Cultural Parliament strives to encourage independent artists and creative individuals and listen to their opinions in order to counter-balance the overwhelming technocracy in the process of the European integration and its influence. Beyond the goal, the founders of the European Cultural Parliament seek to make stronger ties of cooperation between the East and West Europeans, working in various cultural fields, literature. and philosophy to build a bridge through a dialogue. The delegates were selected from all over the continent in spring 2016. The ECP consists of 160 members from 43 countries.
