Professor Julian Alcala Gonzalez, Valencia Polytechnic University, School of Civil Engineering, Concrete Science and Technology Institute delivered public lectures at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University on the advanced approaches to the engineering calculations, heuristic optimization methods which offered solutions to the following problems:
Reinforced and prestressed concrete: Composite material.
•Optimize cost vs. weight.
•Discrete variables optimization (rebars).
•Traditional approach vs. heuristics: general purpose optimization methods.
Professor Julian Alcala Gonzalez dealt with the structural optimization problems of high-performance concrete structures, e.g. precast U-girder bridges and precast pedestrian box bridges.
The cycle of public lectures was sponsored by the Ministry of Adjara AR Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, and organized by the Faculty of BSU Faculty of Technologies
