Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted the delegation of the International Education Institute of the Northwest Agricultural and Forestry University of China. The members of the delegation and BSU academic staff, researchers, the administrative staff and the students discussed the potential of strengthening the relations between the higher education institutions as well as the importance of implementation of joint education-research projects.
Northwest Agricultural and Forestry University of China is one of the leading institutions in the world due to the research work in the fields of the Agrarian Biology (wheat selection, entomology…), Plant Protection, Gardening, Forestry and Veterinary.
From 2014 BSU Research Institute of Phytopathology and Biodiversity has been cooperating with the Head Laboratory of the Cereal Stress Biology of the Northwest Agricultural University. In the frame of this collaboration the above mentioned laboratory was visited by the PhD student of the Faculty of Technologies and the chief researcher of the Institute of Phytopathology and Biodiversity Ketino Natsarishvili. The visit was implemented in the frame of the Chinese and Shota Rustaveli National Fund grant. The PhD student was given the opportunity to master the polymerase chain reaction advanced technique (PCR-SSR) and carry out the significant part of the planned research work- the investigation of the diversity of Georgian population of the wheat yellow mildew through the application of molecular markers.
