Semiar “Auditory Verbal Therapy” (elaboration of the “listen” to be able “to speak” skill) at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University

In the frame of the EU grant ,,ERASMUS+ European Union“ project “Assisting Better Communication” (ABC) Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted the public lecture “Auditory Verbal Therapy (elaboration of the “listen” to be able “to speak” skill) by Isabel Monteiro da Costa, Lecturer of the School of Health at the University of Aveiro, Doctor of Medicine in the field of Psychology of Development. The students of the Educational Programmes of Education, Medicine and Psychology were exposed to following actual issues related to the speech and language therapy: what can we expect from a child born with hearing loss? What are the conditions for producing the actual language? Access to the sound, Meaningful interaction with those who use the language.

The aim of the project ,,Assisting Better Communication"- ABC) is to develop the profession of the Speech and Language Therapy in the project partner countries (Israel, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina) through offering quality courses and programmes at various levels of the professional development. Besides Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University the project involves other partners from Georgia including: Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), Georgian Portage Association (GPA) and non-profitable Organization “Step Forward”. The project was launched on 15 October 2016 and will last until October 14 2019.

The public lecture was organized by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and one of the partners of the project “Step Forward”, non-profitable organization.
