
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is hosting the first international conference on academic integrity. Representatives of Georgian and foreign universities are participating in the conference "Academic Integrity and Distance Learning in Emergency Situations - From the Perspective of Georgian Higher Education Institutions". The main topic of the conference is the state of emergency caused by the pandemic, the process of online teaching and the principles of academic integrity in their context. The papers presented were grouped into several panels: student motivation during online learning; Evaluation of learning outcomes; Violation of academic principles and specifics of foreign language teaching.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the National Center for Education Quality Development, about 40 speakers from 15 higher education institutions. The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Nunu Mitskevich addressed the participants of the forum.
At the invitation of Ilia State University, the conference was closed by the keynote speaker - Miles Berry - Project Partner from the University of Rohampton (UK).
The idea of establishing an annual conference arose within the framework of the ERASMUS + grant project "Academic Integrity for Quality Learning and Teaching in Georgian Higher Education Institutions - INTEGRITY". The main goal of the conference is to share experiences related to the protection of academic integrity by local project partners and to share their own practices with others.
The conference was held with the support of Turnitin, a European Commission and plagiarism detection company, in cooperation with Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Ilia State University.
