The representative of UNICEF in Georgia, Ghassan Khalil, and the Dean of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Education of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Lela Turmanidze, opened a training center for inclusive education and children's rights in Makhinjauri public school. The United Nations Children's Fund, together with the Children's Rights Center operating in BSU, gave technical equipment and books to the Makhinjauri public school, which the public educational institution will use to promote inclusive education.
The center was created within the framework of the Norway-Georgia-UNICEF project. With the support of the Norwegian government, the United Nations Children's Fund is implementing the project "Strengthening universities to support inclusive preschool and general education", in which 8 state universities of Georgia are involved. One of the main goals of the program is to create a well-equipped educational and training center in the region, which will host various trainings, workshops and meetings for teachers and students. Batumi State University selected Makhinjauri public school as such center.
The Faculty of Exact Sciences and Education of BSU and the Children's Rights Center will plan and conduct trainings at the educational training center of Makhinjauri Public School for various schools. On the one hand, this will promote close cooperation, knowledge and experience sharing between the university and schools, and among general education schools themselves, on the other hand, it will promote the introduction of inclusive education approaches and the achievement of the goals of the national curriculum.
