Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is hosting the final conference and consortium meetings of the "Erasmus+" project "Learning Optimization and Academic Inclusion Via Equitative Distance Teaching and Learning - Love Distance". About 90 professors and experts from Georgia and various foreign universities are participating in the conference. The conference is held in the hybrid mode on May 15-17 at Le Meridien Batumi hotel. The session provides for the introduction to the public of the experience and results obtained in Georgia and Israel within the framework of the project, the organization of workshops and round tables of students of BSU, with the participation of students of ISU and TESAU pilot courses.
The main speakers at the conference are Tatia Nakashidze-Makharadze and Madonna Mikeladze, associate professors of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Education of BSU, who will talk about strengthening the digital competencies of teachers by creating innovative regional hubs.
May 17 will be dedicated to the working meetings of the consortium members. The representatives of the universities involved in the project will share their experience with the participants of the event and discuss the results, the ways of its dissemination and the mechanisms for ensuring the sustainability of the project.
Shota Rustaveli State University of Batumi has been participating in the project since January 14, 2020. Love Distance aims to improve access and quality of inclusive higher education in Israel and Georgia by supporting institutional opportunities, strengthening and providing student support services for ethnic minorities, disadvantaged and marginalized women and students with special needs. Based on the trainings and experience gained within the framework of the project, the BSU staff used the innovations in the pilot training courses and implemented them in the training process. Regarding the use of modern techniques of distance learning, the staff conducted trainings with different target groups (academic and invited staff/trainers of BSU, students and teachers of general education schools).
The equipment purchased within the project will help the university to record distance courses and provide services to interested target groups.
