Study visit of the grant project PROMENT to the University of Perugia, Italy

ERASMUS+ grant project "Promoting professional education and students engagement through comprehensive mentoring and tutoring system at HEIs" staff, researcher Nino Samnidze, assistant professor of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Education and researcher Salome Jincharadze, teacher of the Center for Languages and Information Technologies of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Education, the head specialist of the Department of Career Development, Culture and Sports, were in Italy, in the city of Perugia, on a study visit planned within the framework of the project from June 30 to July 8, 2023.

During the study visit, the project participants got acquainted with the history, traditions, and structure of the University of Perugia. In particular, professors and students of the Department of Philosophy, Social Sciences and Education spoke about the department's activities and their rights and duties. The University of Perugia is distinguished by its traditionally great interest in innovation and interdisciplinary approaches, where priority is given to students with different skills and abilities, their support in study and other social activities, constant upgrading of study programs and effective preparation of students in accordance with the requirements of the labor market.

During the visit, the project members got acquainted with the tutoring and mentoring schemes operating in the university, and the best experience of the University of Perugia was shared. Also, the role and importance of these services were highlighted in university life, which aims to support students in academic and scientific activities. FOCUS (Educational Counseling Service) functions in the university and provides students with both psychological help and support in solving and overcoming difficulties related to learning in the educational process. The University of Perugia has a career development service, which constantly conducts orientation meetings for schoolchildren and students from the point of view of further employment. During the study visit, the best experience and practice of the University of Perugia in terms of student tutoring were shared.
