Erasmus+" CISI project consortium summary meeting in BSU

Within the CBHE program of Erasmus+, the summary meeting of the "Curriculum Innovation for Social Inclusion (CISI)" consortium is being held at Batumi Shota Rustveli State University. At the three-day meeting of the consortium, Georgian and foreign participants will summarize the results of the project and plan future cooperation of the consortium partner organizations. Within the framework of the program, new courses have been introduced in partner Georgian universities, which will allow future teachers to acquire knowledge and skills on how to work with students with various special needs in the development. In particular, courses will be developed that relate to the following:

  1. Peculiarities of working with students with sensory developmental disorders;
  2. Peculiarities of working with students with intellectual, learning, language-speech and communication disabilities;
  3. Peculiarities of working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders, autism;
  4. The philosophy of inclusive education and inclusive society in general and the principles underlying it.

An educational program for special teacher training (60-credit special teacher certificate program) was prepared at TSU and BSU, which is planned to be launched in 2024.

In the partner Georgian universities of the project, short-term trainings related to inclusive education were developed and implemented for academic and administrative staff of the university, as well as for school teachers.

In the framework of the project, a support network for inclusive education was formed, which unites educational institutions (universities, vocational schools, schools, preschools), the Ministry of Education and Science, and non-governmental organizations. The purpose of the network is to exchange information and coordinate activities related to inclusive education.

CISI has been implemented since 2019 under the coordination of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and involves four Georgian universities, four foreign universities, three local non-governmental organizations and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia.
