Within the framework of the USAID Education for the Future program, the cooperation between Arizona State University and BSU has started

Within the framework of the USAID Education for the Future program, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Mary Lou Fulton School of Education of Arizona State University and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The purpose of the agreement is to promote the development of teacher training and education science programs in universities.

The agreement was signed by BSU Rector, Merab Khalvashi, and Arizona State University Mary Lou Fulton School of Education Associate Dean for Global Engagement, Iveta Silova.

For long-term partnership USAID Education for the Future program together with Shota Rustaveli State University of Batumi, 3 higher educational institutions of Georgia were selected: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Akaki Tsereteli State University and Georgian University named after Saint Andrew the First-Called Georgian University of the Patriarchate of Georgia which will implement the project in cooperation with the Arizona School of Education.

The event was opened by Nodar Papukashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. The US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia Robin L. Dunnigan made welcome speech for the audience.

Along with the rector from BSU, the representatives of the administration of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Education and the personnel implementing the teacher training educational programs attended the event. The USAID Education for the Future program is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and aims to increase the quality and inclusiveness of future teacher training programs, develop and strengthen the capabilities of school administrators as educational leaders at different levels of school management, and strengthen school autonomy within the Georgian education system.
