BSU academic staff participated in the training of trainers meetings held within the framework of the ETHICS project

BSU professor Tamar Siradze, associate professors Marina Nagervadze and Tatia Nakashidze-Makharadze participated in the training of trainers conducted within the framework of the project "Responsible Conduct of Research - Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities (ETHICS)" funded by the European Commission. The meeting was chaired by experts from the Free University of Amsterdam, Masaryk University and the European Association for Academic Integrity. The goal of the ETHICS project is to improve existing mechanisms, procedures and services in the direction of research ethics and integrity at the university level.

The listeners were introduced to such topical issues as: research ethics and integrity, falsification of data and its detection, prevention of plagiarism and other types of academic misconduct while conducting research, the need to confirm research ethics and procedures for its acceptance, publishing ethics and related issues.

Separate sessions were also devoted to discussing challenges and opportunities related to the use of artificial intelligence in research; Emphasis was placed on the role of the Research Integrity Officer in an educational institution and its functions and responsibilities. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to develop a national research integrity framework under the leadership of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia.

The project coordinator is Ilia State University.
