
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosts the training session in the development of the mobility, orientation and everyday living task skills for the blind and visually impaired people.
In the frame of the training the experts in early intervention of the visually impaired and multi-handicapped children, professors and teachers of the Faculty of Education and the students of Psychology of BSU are mastering the techniques they can apply while working with the impaired children to increase their independence and socialization skills. The training will provide the theoretical knowledge as well as the practical lessons to master the above mentioned skills.
The blindfolded participants of the training have to try to orient and do some everyday living tasks in the frame of the training. Mr. Merab Khalvashi the Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Mrs. Inga Shamilishvili the Minister of Education, Sport and Culture of Autonomous Republic of Ajara also participated in the practical part of the training.
It is planned to establish the first, in Transcaucasia and Georgia, Consultation Centre for the Blind and Impaired people on the basis of the university. The idea was initiated by BSU and supported by “Blista” Marburg Educational Centre for the Blind.
The trainings will be delivered by the professional trainers from “Blista” Educational Centre for the Blind in Marburg, Germany. The training is organized by the non-governmental organization in Marburg “Friend of Tbilisi Blind School”, “non-governmental organization “Mariani” working on the needs of the blind and partially sighted people”, “Inclusive Education Support Programme” of the Teachers’ Professional Development National Centre and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
Trainings started on October 2 and will finish on October 12.
