International Scientific Conference "Byzantine Studies in Georgia - 5" is closed. Greek Ambassador to Georgia Dimitris Karabalis attended the closing ceremony. A photo exhibition depicting the presence of Greeks living in Adjara was held within the framework of BSU professors` monograph "Pontic Greeks in Adjara – Past and Present". A three-day conference was held at BSU on this topic - "The Black Sea and Black Sea Countries – the Crossroads of Cultures and Civilizations in IV-XV Centuries", with the participation of Georgian, American, German, English, Turkish, and Greek researchers and foreign Kartvelologists.

The delegation of the Silk Road High-Tech Park Association paid a visit to Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The representatives of the Chinese delegation met with Deputy Rector Prof. Tamar Siradze, professors, researchers, and representatives of the Department of Strategic Development and International Relations of BSU. At the introductory meeting, the Association Director General, Zhenjiang Jenchzhun, spoke about activities of the association and presented high-tech achievements in agricultural aviation. During the visit, the guests also got acquainted with the scientific-research potential of BSU. The parties discussed the issues of future cooperation and set up priorities for scientific and educational exchange programs.

International Scientific Conference on Byzantine Studies in Georgia - 5 at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University has been opened on the topic: "The Black Sea and Black Sea Countries – The Crossroaads of Cultures and Civilizations in IV-XV Centuries". The purpose of the three-day conference is to present and promote the latest trends in modern Byzantine studies and the humanities in general, innovative methods and achievements in digital humanities in Georgia. 110 Georgian, Greek, German, English, American and Turkish scholars present scientific papers in the following eight sections: History, Source Studies; Art History, Architecture, Archeology, Numismatics; Language and Literature; Codicology, Textology, Translation and Philosophy, Religion, and Theology.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia Ulrik Tideström has paid the visit to Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. During the meeting with Merab Khalvashi, Rector of BSU, professors, and students, the diplomat talked about cultural-educational relations, directions of future cooperation and exchange programs between the two countries. At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia, Ulrik Tideström answered the students` questions. During the visit, a photo exhibition depicting the efforts of Swedish diplomat Raul Wallenberg was held at the BSU, which saved the lives of up to 10,000 Jews during the Holocaust during World War II.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Program, funded by the EACEA of the European Commission has been presented at Shota Rustaveli State University of Batumi. The National Erasmus + office of Georgia representatives Tata Lortkipanidze and Nino Urushadze introduced the students from different faculties the opportunity of studying at JMD programs and conditions of taking part in the call for application. As part of the Erasmus + program, the EACEA of the European Commission announces the call for applications at 123 JMD programs, which are implemented by universities from different European countries.
