Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted a meeting which dealt with the implementation of child protection referral procedures. The international event was arranged in partnership with UNICEF and was sponsored by the European Union. The event was opened by the Rector of BSU Merab Khalvashi, who spoke about the values of prevention of the violence against child and introduction and implementation of the referral procedures in the Adjara region. UNICEF supports the government of Georgia to implement and expand the project coverage. The government of the Adjara Autonomos Republic and Association of the Georgian Workers, and the National Violence Prevention Network will collaborate for the startup of the child protection referral procedures. The referral mechanisms have been introduced to all the government agencies, school security officers, public and private educational institutions, and the municipalities. Under the project, the meeting was attended by UNICEF Representative in Georgia Laila Omar Gad.
