Faculty of Humanities at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is working on the important and innovative education program. Beginning from the next academic year the BSU students will be able to choose and train in the Abkhazian language.
Development of the Abkhazian language course syllabi regularly gathers actively involved team members: professors of the Faculty of humanities and Abkhazian citizen of Batumi Ada Kutelia. BSU plans to open the Abkhazian language lab.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli University Acting Rector Merab Khalvashi, Adjara Autonomous Republic Deputy Minister of Health and Social Affairs Levan Gorgiladze, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Health Care Marina Koridze and program director Sophie Beridze hosted a meeting in honour of the international students enrolled in the newly launched English language single-step educational program of Medical Doctor. The BSU has developed the first English language Medical Doctor’s integrated curriculum in the region, which sets an example of good practices among other Georgian high educational institutions.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Acting Rector Merab Khalvashi and the Minister of Justice Thea Tsulukiani signed Memorandum of Understanding with the goal of enhanced cooperation. The MoA will support professional training of the BSU students who study law, and will facilitate joint implementation of research and scientific projects, holding of public lectures, introduction of education methodological innovations. The BSU students will take internships in the respective structural units at the partner institution under the Memorandum.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University was paid a visit by the Lower Silesian Voivode delegation: Dr. Piotr Oleśniewicz, director of Department of Tourism at Wroclaw University School of Physical Education, Wroclaw High School Chancellor Dr. Marek Natalli, Vice-Chancellor Barbara Szczepanic and Dr. Julita Markiewicz-Patkowska. Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Acting Rector Merab Khalvashi, vice rector and deans of the faculties hosted the delegation. Representatives of the Poland`s higher education institutions were introduced to the BSU`s educational programs. The parties signed an agreement on cooperation after the hospitality reception at the hotel Hilton Batumi. The document is aimed at implementation of the joint educational programs, research projects and exchange programs. The agreement also provides for holding joint conferences, symposia and workshops for organizing and sharing of experience. The partnership agreement envisages development of the shared internet library between the higher education institutions, and exchange of educational, scientific and methodological literature.

A laboraty of Industrial Innovations opened at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University through the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Georgian Agency of Innovation and Technology. The publab promotes convergence of business and academic sectors in the field of innovative technologies, enhances students` job experience and adds a great advantage to their career prospects. The opening ceremony of the Innovative laboratory was held at the BSU, attended by Associate Professor Merab Khalvashi, Acting Rector, Archil Khabadze, Head of the Ajara A/R Government, Dimitri Kumsashvili, Minister of Economy of Georgia, David Baladze, Ajara A/R Economy and Finance Minister, Avtandil Beridze, Chairperson of the Ajara Supreme Council the Mayor of Batumi Giorgi Ermakov, professors, teachers and students.

The laboratory is equipped with ultra-modern hardware and advanced appliances, e.g. installed 3D printers, laser cutting, programmable machinery etc. that will allow individuals entrepreneurs and companies to produce prototype products, to test and produce them in limited numbers.
