BSU hosted the meeting of the representatives of the consortium member universities and the International Advisors’ Board in the frame of the ERASMUS+ CBHE grant project „InnoCENS Project“. 30 participants from Georgia, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Belarussia, Armenia and Kazakhstan summarized the two year work results of the project and competition of the Innovative Business Ideas held in BSU.

The three year project “Enhancing Innovation Competences and Entrepreneurial Skills in Engineering Education (InnoCENS)”, with the involvement of BSU, has been being implemented since 2016.

The BSU Innovative Centre equipped with the modern technologies procured in the frame of the grant project has been opened at BSU. An Entrepreneurial Day, Study Course – Entrepreneurship in Engineering and the Competition of the Innovative Business ideas have been implemented at BSU on the basis of the Innovative Centre. 23 teams comprised of the BSU students participated in the competition at the end of which the winner has been revealed; the winner of the competition will be sent to the Technical University of Valencia to participate in the semi-final.

The workshop in the frame of the project of the Institutional Support “Raising Research Capacity of Georgian HEIs through Developing R&D Units (HERD)“ (Erasmus+Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) has started at BSU. The aim of the project is to improve the potential of research existing in the country though the development of the research services in Georgian Universities. The three day workshop involves about 30 representatives of the Georgian and International universities.

In the frame of the project the Integrated Management System of the Research in Georgia is being created that, with the coordination of Tbilisi State University, will involve 12 Higher Education Institutions of the country, 5 governmental agencies and 3 European universities (Germany, France).

The two year project aims at modernization of research services of the Member Universities, enhancement of the research potential and quality, integration of the teaching/learning and research components at the institutional level. It is planned to create the integrated research platform for 12 Georgian universities as well as the Internet Research Portal for Georgia, develop the skills for the research management and the processing of the data analysis for the Administrative staff and support the enhancement of the research potential.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Georgia Dessislava Ivanova visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. Representative of the Diplomatic Corps met Prof. Merab Khalvashi, Rector of BSU. Parties talked about the directions of the future cooperation as well as planned to put the ERASMUS+project exchange programmes between BSU and the Bulgarian universities in operation and deepen the collaboration with the universities in Bulgaria.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University participated in the Vocational Education Georgian-German days held in Tbilisi. In the frame of the event a two day conference “Skills for Georgia-Georgian-German Days of Vocational Education” was held too. At about 200 experts and invited guests attended the session where the important issues of the vocational education were discussed. German experts shared their experience in the field of vocational education with Georgian colleagues.

Lela Turmanidze, Dean of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Education, Madona Mikeladze, Director of the Centre of Vocational Programme Management and Continues Education and Nino Dolidze, Head of the Public Relations presented Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University at the conference as well as introduced the Vocational Education and Human Resource Development MA Educational programme at the exhibition.

In the frame of the event the meeting with the Georgian Higher Education Institutions implementing MA Educational Programmes and the German experts took place in the office of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). The parties spoke about the prospects of the development of programme and defined the directions of future cooperation.

The Georgian-German Days of Vocational Education was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and GIZ-German Society for International Cooperation.

Educational meeting at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University was held for the students and the academic staff/teachers. The members of the association of Georgian participants in the USA government exchange programmes introduced the youth to the social network and its role, risks of uploading the information on the internet, so called digital imprints and other important issues. In the frame of the event the USA government exchange programmes have also been presented. The meeting was organized by the association of the Georgian participants of the exchange programmes of BSU and American government.
