The seasonal school “Preparation of Certification Program for Social Work at Batumi State University”, jointly organized by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Institute of Social Studies and Analysis, has been opened. BSU professors and social workers of western Georgia will be introduced to the topical issues of social work for five days, such as the basics of social work, social advocacy, and human behavior in the social environment, social welfare policy, and social work research methods. Georgian and foreign speakers will also give lectures on Social Work with Communities and Organizations, Social Work and Domestic Violence, Social Work and Child Protection, Social Work and Criminal Justice.

David Schultz, a professor at Hemline University, delivered a public lecture on the topic: “Understanding the 2020 US Elections” within the frames of the International Summer School "Constitutional Democracy: Modern Challenges" jointly organized by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Mykolas Romeris University.
He spoke about the electoral system and the topical issues of the American elections of 2020. David Schultz, Professor of Political Science at Hamline University, teaches various fields: American Politics - Public Policy and Administration, Campaigns and Elections, Government Ethics.
David Schultz is also a professor at the University of Minnesota School of Law where he teaches electoral law. He is the author of 30 books and more than 100 articles on topics such as American Politics, Electoral Law, Media, and Politics. He has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship three times, and in 2013 he was awarded the Leslie A. Whittington National Award for Excellence in Public Education.

The book "Constitutional Amendments: Making, Breaking, and Changing Constitutions" was presented at the Constitutional Court of Georgia by Professor Richard Albert. During the presentation, the author talked about the importance and topicality of the work. The book discusses the procedure of constitutional amendments, the practices of different countries, issues of reviewing of the Constitutional Court on the constitutionality of constitutional amendments. The event was attended by judges of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, organizers, and participants of the international summer school "Constitutional Democracy: Modern Challenges".

International Summer School "Constitutional Democracy: Modern Challenges" has started within the frames of the partnership between Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Mykolas Romeris University. The Summer School has been opened by the Rector of BSU Merab Khalvashi, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences - Levan Jakeli, Associate Professor and the Director of the Summer School - Malkhaz Nakashidze, Professor Toma Birmontiene of Mykolas Romeris University and The Head of the Department of Education at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Adjara A.R. - Nazibrola Beridze-Gabaidze. During the week, students from Georgia, UK, Estonia, Belgium, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Armenia will study the topical issues of constitutional law and important institutions of constitutional democracy.

The conference "Action Research to Innovative Science & Career Orientation" has been opened at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The conference is the concluding event of the ERASMUS + project ARTIST (Action Research to Innovate Science Teaching & Career Orientation). The ARTIST project coordinator is Professor Ingo Eilks (University of Bremen), and the co-coordinator - Professor Marika Kapanadze (Ilia State University). Different higher education institutions are participating in the project from seven countries as follows: Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Israel, Turkey, the Philippines, and Georgia. The project aims at stimulating students` interest in science, increasing motivation to study natural sciences through practical training and improving the quality of teaching.
