Batumi State University (BSU) is implementing MACRO CLEAN (Research, Cleaning Methodologies, Economic Valorization and Pilot Application for Macroalgal Blooms) project which aims to reduce this problem and to provide environmental and economic benefits by using seaweeds in a sustainable way.
On August 27-31, 2025, Professor Malkhaz Nakashidze, the Jean Monnet Chair (EUCONST), Coordinator of the Jean Monnet Module (TRIO.JOIN.EU) and students of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, participated in the Summer School in Italy. Malkhaz Nakashidze delivered lectures on “The European Integration and the Challenges of Georgia’s Implementation of the Recommendations for EU Membership” to the students of the Sibilini Europe Summer School.
Students of the medical education program of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Health Care of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University will undergo an internship at the Freiburg University Clinic in Germany. The students were seen off at the airport by the Rector of BSU Tite Aroshidze, Deputy Rector Giorgi Katamadze, Dean of the Faculty Rusudan Khukhunaishvili, and Deputy Dean Nato Zosidze, who wished the young people a successful internship and professional development
Professor Emeritus of the University of Leuven, Belgium, President of the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) and the International Society for Liver Transplantation (ILTS) Jan Lerut visited the University of BSU. The well known transplantologist met with the Rector of the University of BSU, Tite Aroshidze, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Health, Rusudan Khukhunaishvili, and leading professors and teachers in this field. During the visit, the professor also toured the university’s infrastructure and medical laboratories.
On July 30, 2025, the Summer School “Political Criteria for EU Membership and Europeanization” closed at the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The school and participants awarded with the Jean Monnet international certificates. The Summer School is organized every year and funded by the “Erasmus+” program, within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module “Political Criteria for EU Membership and Europeanization of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine”, which has been implemented at the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences since 2023. The Jean Monnet Module aims to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union studies. This year, the Summer School was held in collaboration with the “Sibillini Europe” Association (Italy), whose members delivered lectures for the Summer School students.
